We don't encouraging you splurging on materials before you decide this is a craft you want to pursue seriously. Basic materials will be a watercolor board, a drawing block, a watercolor bucket, a mixing palette, a basic 5-sizes brush set and a minimum of a 12-colour water color paint set. These can be obtained easily at selected Popular bookstores and Art Friend outlets.
2. Why is there a minimum commitment of 4-classes upon enrollment?
Like any hobby or craft, it takes time and patience before you master the techniques and begin to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Like the old saying, "Learn all the rules then break some." If you are unsure of your commitment, you can also take part in a sampler 2-hour class of $60 with basic watercoloring materials provided.
3. Will I get to participate in competitions and win awards?
"For The Love Of Art" was founded mainly for leisurely painting. You are free to hone your skills and take part in your own competitions. If there're available local competitions, we will be more than happy to share with our students and see them show off their crafts.
4. What if I decide halfway that I want to drop out or cancel my classes?
Fees are collected at the start of every month. First time enrollment students are expected to commit to a minimum of 4-classes, after which they are free to discontinue classes by giving one week's notice via written email notification. Fees collected will be non-refundable or exchangeable.
5. How can I enroll right away?
Simply fill up the following enrollment form and email it to us at fortheloveofart15@gmail.com
6. Why must each class start with a minimum of 2 students and maximum of 3?
Art is to be shared and enjoyed. And you will find at times that you too can learn from the strengths and weaknesses of others. We do not encourage classes to take more than 3 students as it will also limit the time and duration the mentor can spend with each student.
7. How are the classes conducted?
The mentor will decide on the topic or the lack of a topic for the student to paint. For beginners, you can expect to learn basics such as how to use the brush and how to mix the colors. For the intermediate students, the mentor will help correct any wrong techniques and help bring your skills to the next level. Finally for the advanced students, it will be about creating a conducive environment for you to experience, express and share different forms of watercolor painting. Classes are mostly conducted indoors, but special arrangements can be made based on the consensus of the entire class to move the lessons outdoor to experience outdoor painting. Finally each 3-4 hour class will include materials preparations, introduction on the paint topic for the day, the time and space to experiment and paint with appropriate mentoring, and finally presentation to discuss and share individual works. Depending on individual pace, it might take more than one class to complete the painting.
8. Why am I at times left to paint on my own?
You learn the most when you personally practice it. Each artist in the making will also possess his or own style and strengths. Arts cultivate the character and the heart, and should be borne of your own. The class provides the shared environment to paint and enjoy. And the mentor will definitely be available for questions, necessary coaching and correction.
